Getting started
What is Termbit
Termbit is a native SSH and SFTP client for macOS. It keeps your hosts, terminal sessions, file transfers, tunnels and credentials in one app, protected by an encrypted vault on your Mac.
What you can do
- Organize hosts by group or environment, with tags, favorites and notes, or import the connections you already have.
- Work in the terminal with tabs, split panes and multiple windows, and type into several servers at once with Broadcast Input.
- Manage files on two servers side by side, drag files to and from Finder, and copy folders between servers.
- Forward ports with saved local, remote and dynamic SOCKS tunnels.
- Keep your keys in one place: generate or import SSH keys, use FIDO2 security keys and reuse one identity across many hosts.
- Save time with a snippet library for everyday commands and workspaces that open a whole set of hosts at once.
How your data is stored
Termbit doesn’t need an account and has no cloud backend. Hosts, passwords, SSH keys, notes and snippets are stored in an encrypted vault on your Mac. The key that protects the vault lives in the macOS Keychain, and you can export it as a backup at any time.
The app connects only to the servers you add. It has no telemetry, advertising or third-party analytics.
Keep a backup of your vault key somewhere safe. Without it, your data can’t be recovered if the key is ever lost.
