SFTP
Conflicts
What happens when the destination already has a file or folder with the same name.
Files
- Uploading one file: Termbit asks whether to Replace the file on the server or Cancel.
- Files inside a folder you’re transferring: choose Replace or Skip for each one, or turn on Apply to all existing files in this transfer to answer once.
- Downloading: one file is saved with the standard macOS save dialog, which asks before replacing. When you download several items at once, an existing file with the same name isn’t overwritten and is reported in the transfer instead.
Folders
When you upload a folder, download it with Actions → Download or copy it between servers, and the destination already has a folder with that name, Termbit offers to Merge them. New files are added, existing folders are merged, and files that are only in the destination are kept. For files with the same name, choose one option:
- Keep destination files: the default, nothing gets overwritten
- Replace with source files
- Ask for each file
Dragging a folder to Finder doesn’t merge with an existing folder. If one already exists, the download stops. Rename or move the existing folder and try again, or use Actions → Download instead.
A file and a folder with the same name
Termbit can’t merge a file with a folder, so you can only skip that item or cancel.
Skipped items are counted separately in the transfer and aren’t treated as errors.
