Port forwarding
Dynamic forwarding
Turn a server into a secure proxy for your browser or any app that supports SOCKS.
Set it up
- In Port Forwarding, click New Forwarding and choose Dynamic.
- Choose the host to connect through.
- Listen on this Mac:
127.0.0.1, port1080. - Click Save & Connect.
Now set your browser or app to use a SOCKS5 proxy at 127.0.0.1:1080. Its traffic will go out from the server, as if you were browsing from there.
When it’s useful
- Open internal dashboards and admin pages that are only reachable from the server’s network.
- Protect your traffic on untrusted Wi-Fi.
The proxy supports TCP connections without a proxy password; UDP isn’t supported.
If you’re used to the command line
This does the same as:
ssh -D 1080 user@server
-Dmeans a dynamic tunnel (SOCKS proxy)1080is the port in Listen on this Macuser@serveris the host in Connect via Host
You don’t need to run this command: Termbit sets everything up for you.
