Hosts
Hosts, groups and environments
Keep your servers organized in the sidebar with groups, environments, tags and favorites.
Create and edit hosts
- New Host: click the + button at the top left of the window, or right-click an empty area of the sidebar. Right-click a group or environment to create a host that’s already placed in it.
- Edit, Duplicate and Delete: right-click a host. Duplicating never copies the saved password.
Groups
Groups are folders for your hosts, for example by project or purpose. Give each group its own icon and color, rename it or drag it to reorder. Hosts without a group appear under Ungrouped. When you delete a group, Termbit asks where to move its hosts.
Environments
An environment is a label like Production, Staging or Development, each with its own color. Switch the sidebar between groups and environments with View → Switch Sidebar Grouping ⌃⌘G.
Want both at once? In Settings → General, turn on splitting groups by environment, or environments by group.
Tags, favorites and notes
- Tags are short labels that make hosts easy to find with search.
- Favorites stay at the top of the sidebar. Star a host from its context menu.
- Notes hold a few lines of text per host, such as a runbook link. They’re encrypted, and links in them are clickable.
Drag and drop
- Drag hosts between groups or environments, or to reorder them.
- Drag a host onto the tab bar to open it in a new tab, or onto the edge of a terminal pane to open it next to it.
