Hosts
Jump hosts
Reach a server that isn’t directly accessible by going through another server first, often called a bastion.
Set it up
- Save the jump server as an ordinary host.
- Open the host you want to reach and turn on Use Jump Host.
- Choose the jump server from the list and save.
Connect as usual. Termbit connects to the jump host, then from there to your server. It checks both servers’ host keys and signs in to each with its own settings.
Good to know
- Termbit uses one jump host per connection.
- Jump hosts work for the terminal, SFTP and port forwarding.
- To set the same jump host on many servers, use Edit Hosts.
- Find all hosts that use one with the
jump:anysearch filter. - Quick Connect doesn’t support jump hosts. Save the server as a host instead.
If you’re used to the command line
This does the same as:
ssh -J user@bastion user@target
-J user@bastionis the host you chose in Use Jump Hostuser@targetis the host you connect to
You don’t need to run this command: Termbit sets everything up for you.
