Hosts

Known hosts

Termbit checks each server’s identity before signing you in, to protect you from connecting to an impostor.

The first connection

When you connect to a server for the first time, Termbit shows its host key fingerprint and asks whether to trust it. If you choose Trust, Termbit remembers the key and checks it silently on every later connection.

If a server’s key changes

If the key no longer matches, Termbit stops and shows both the saved and the new fingerprint. This can happen after a server is reinstalled or its keys are rotated. If you know why it changed, choose Replace. If you don’t, cancel and check with whoever runs the server.

Manage known hosts

Open Known Hosts in the sidebar to see every trusted server with its fingerprint. Remove an entry, and Termbit will ask again on the next connection.

Moving from the command line? Click Import on the Known Hosts screen to bring in your existing OpenSSH known_hosts file.
