Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

Termbit is a macOS SSH and SFTP client. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your information.

Information stored on your Mac

Termbit stores the information you save to provide its features, including host addresses, usernames, connection settings, credentials, SSH keys, identities, notes, command snippets, and workspaces.

Sensitive saved information is protected in an encrypted local vault. General app preferences are also stored locally.

Termbit does not operate a cloud service for storing or synchronizing your vault, and the app does not automatically upload your vault contents to its developer.

Keychain and iCloud

The key used to protect your vault is stored in macOS Keychain. Depending on your Apple settings, this key may synchronize between your devices through iCloud Keychain.

This synchronizes the vault key, not the contents of your vault. Apple operates iCloud Keychain under its own privacy and security policies.

If you export your vault key or save files in a folder managed by a backup or cloud storage service, those copies are handled according to that service and your settings.

Connections and file transfers

Termbit connects to servers you specify, including any jump host you configure. Information needed for authentication, commands, and file transfers is exchanged with those servers to carry out your actions.

The servers you connect to may record your IP address, username, connection activity, commands, or transferred content. Their handling of that information is controlled by the server operator.

Termbit does not send copies of your terminal activity or transferred files to its developer.

The app accesses local files and folders you authorize for operations such as importing data, uploading files, downloading files, and exporting your vault key.

Analytics and advertising

Termbit does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The app does not automatically send usage telemetry to its developer.

Apple may process App Store usage information and system diagnostic reports under its own policies and your sharing settings. Apple may make certain analytics or diagnostic reports available to developers through its services.

Privacy-related correspondence

If you send a privacy-related question or request, your email address and any information you choose to include are received as part of your message.

This information is used to handle your privacy inquiry or request. Correspondence may be processed by the email service provider.

Please do not include passwords, private SSH keys, or vault keys in your message.

Your personal information is not sold. Privacy-related correspondence is not used for advertising.

Retention and deletion

Saved app information remains on your Mac until you delete it. You can remove individual saved items using the app’s management controls.

Deleting the app may not remove all associated local data, Keychain entries, exported files, or backups. These copies may need to be managed separately.

Privacy-related correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to address your inquiry or request, unless a longer period is required by law. You can use the privacy contact below to request access, correction, or deletion of information provided in your correspondence.

The app’s developer cannot access or delete the vault stored on your Mac.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app or its privacy practices change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
